New Comics 06/12/17

Hey there, it’s your friendly neighbourhood Kapow comic book guy Justin with this weeks recommended comics for all of you. Lots of fun comics come out this week, starting with a new number one issue of Captain Canuck. This title starts off the Year One story, focusing on the Captain as he starts addressing the crimes going on while still in active duty stationed in Afghanistan. Co-written by Kalman Andrasofszky, one of the key people that have been helming the Captain Canuck revival. Andrasofszky is joined by new to comic book writing, but actor and writer of the cult classic movie Goon and star of How To Train Your Dragon, Jay Baruchel. This issue is a must read if you’ve ever been interested in the character of Captain Canuck.

Next up on the list of must read comics, if you’re a fan of Batman and the Ninja Turtles it’s a good week for you with the sequel to the 2015 crossover Batman/ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. Again being written James Tynion IV, we see our heroes in a halfshell teaming up with the caped crusader to face off against the man to break the bat, Bane. This crossover is sure to hit you in the childhood, bringing you the crossover you’d dream about playing with your action figures while watching saturday morning cartoons.

Third on the docket we have the next installment of one of the most popular titles in the store, Doctor Strange. This time the Doctor is in, but he continues having to deal with no longer being the Sorcerer Supreme, as the title as being taken by someone much more… mischievous. Make sure you don’t miss this issue with Loki: Sorcerer Supreme.

Finally, the the comic to set you up for the holiday season right, the DC Holiday Special 2017, by far one the best installments of a holiday special. Having current greats like Tom King with Francesco Francavilla giving us World War II St Rock Chanukah story, or veteran Batman writer Denny O’Neil returning to the character for the first time in decades to give us a tale that might be one of my favourite Batman stories of 2017. These are just 2 of the many short stories you are getting in the special, make sure not to miss it.
